Joy Story

Hello, Friend! Welcome to Stitcher's Joy!

My name is Joy Draughon, and I am a Christian, Wife of 27 years, Mom to two fantastic teenage boys, and an incurable stitch-a-holic. In my early days, my Grandmother, June, taught me how to crochet, latch hook, cross-stitch, hand embroider, and hand quilt. Those skills combined with accompanying my Mom to the fabric stores, began a love affair with fabric and thread.  I began by stitching my Mom's fabric scraps into clothes for my dolls, and I have been creating ever since. Stitcher's Joy grew out of my love to create, and my desire to share my passion with other people. Whether it is sharing my latest designs, inspiring others to create, teaching the skills I've collected over the years, helping people preserve memories in quilts, or helping people find quality products, my mission is to help others find joy and enhance their own stitching journey.

The Struggle is Real

Living up to a name like 'Joy' can be a daunting task.  Joy is a much deeper emotion than being happy or having fun, so it can last much longer than a moment.  Finding joy is a choice, and it is usually made in the darkest of times.  With the opposite of joy being sorrow, it's downside can reach deeper, darker, and longer than just being unhappy.

In each newsletter, I share many great stitching and quilting tips, but also words to encourage you as you stitch along and choose joy. Whether you are here to learn about me, a risen Savior, or the work we do, thank you for joining us, and I wish you blessed inspiration and joyful stitches.
