Long Arm Services

At Stitcher's Joy, we offer long arm services to help you finish your quilts.  Each quilt is completed by the owner on a Gammill Ascend computer-guided machine. Choose an economical edge-to-edge quilting pattern, or schedule a design session with the owner for a custom plan to complete your quilt.

What types of quilting services do you offer and how much do they cost?\ We currently offer 4 levels of long arm quilting services. They are:

·       Edge to Edge – This is a repeated pattern that is uniform across the quilt. Pricing: $0.02/in2.

·       Basting – I can baste together the 3 layers of the quilt in a 12” grid with a 1” stitch length for those who wish to hand quilt their quilts. Pricing: $0.01/in2.

·       Semi-Custom – This type of quilting uses 2 different repeatable quilting patterns. This might include 2 different patterns that alternate by block or a quilt with a separate border design. Pricing: $0.03/in2.

·       Full Custom – This is a quilt that features more than 2 repeatable patterns, echo quilting, or ruler work quilting. The pricing is based on a combination of factors, such as density of quilting, number of repeatable patterns, number of starts and stops, and a few other factors. This style of quilting requires a 20-40 minute consultation, and pricing is quoted at that time. In general, prices range from $0.04/in2 to $0.12/in2.

·       I’m always happy to answer questions and help you get started!

How do I calculate the square inches of my quilt? Fold the quilt top in half lengthwise, and measure the length of the fold. Then open it and fold it in half width-wise and measure the width. Multiply those two numbers together to get the square inches.

How long does it take to finish my quilt?\ Most quilts are completed within one week. Full Custom Quilting takes longer, and timing is discussed and scheduled during the consultation.

What sizes of quilts can you accommodate?\ With the generous workspace of my 14-foot table, I can handle quilts of all sizes—from baby quilts or table runners to king-size bedspread masterpieces with a drop.

Can I choose my own quilting pattern?\ Absolutely! You can select from over 1,200 quilting patterns, ranging from classic to contemporary. If you need help deciding, I’m happy to offer suggestions based on your quilt’s style and budget. Still not seeing what you are looking for? I can help create a pattern to bring your vision to life.

Do you provide materials like backing and batting?\ Yes! I offer a curated selection of wide backings and high-quality battings for an additional charge. You’re also welcome to bring your own materials if you prefer.

Is there a separate charge for notions or thread?\ No. With my upfront pricing, I include the cost of a new needle and 1 color of thread in the price. More than one color of thread or a separate color on the back will have an additional charge.

What types of thread do you offer?\ For those preferring 100% cotton, I offer King Tut thread by Superior Threads, and it is available in over 130 colors, including variegated. For those who prefer a polyester thread, I offer Glide thread by Fil-Tec, and it is available in over 380 solid colors. Please note that I keep a wide variety of colors on hand. In the event I need to order thread, timing is at the mercy of the thread shipment and it may take longer than a week to receive the thread and quilt your quilt.

Is there a discount for first-time customers?\ Yes—enjoy 25% off your first quilting service as a thank you for choosing my shop! The 25% applies to your entire quilting service, whether it is 1 or 25 quilts. However, it only applies to quilting services, and does not apply to supplies, such as batting or backing, or additional services, like binding or repair.

What if I am visiting Nashville and want to drop my quilt off in person and pick it up before I leave town? I offer a special service for those visiting from out of the state. I will quilt 1 quilt with an edge-to-edge design with a 3 business day turn around time. That means if you drop it off by Noon on Tuesday, I will have it ready after Noon on Thursday. If you will only be in over the weekend, please call the store to check the availability of dropping off on Friday or Saturday and picking up on Monday. While the store isn't open Saturday, Sunday, or Monday, if the owner is available, she may be able to complete your quilt for you.

Can I visit the shop to see the machine or discuss my project in person?\ Of course! I love meeting fellow quilting enthusiasts. The shop is regularly open Tuesday – Friday from 9:30am – 5:00pm.
